I've read last week that Ron Artest wanted to change his name to 'Metta World Peace'. Well, he's not the first man in NBA or athlete to change their names, like Lloyd Bernard Free - 1975-88 NBA Player - changed his first name to 'World' and it read 'World B. Free' (legally changed, 1981) or Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. well known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1969-89 NBA Player) - but Kareem changed his name when he converted to Islam.
Metta means (in Pali, an Indian subcontinent) loving kindness, goodwill, benevolence, fellowship, amity, concord, inoffensive & non-violence and if you guys remember Ron's brawl over a fan or two during his game at Indiana in November 2004, Metta doesn't fit him well at that time don't you think? Since Ron is turning unto a new leaf now (hope it's for good, I think) this will be a good name for him.
Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. is well known as Muhammad Ali - greatest boxer and Chad Javon Johnson also change his name to Ocho Cinco (85) - NFL Player - are only few people known changing their names.
So guys, if you will have a chance to change your name too, what would it be?
